Metadata and output problems
MusicBrainz lookup cannot start
Section titled “MusicBrainz lookup cannot start”Open OAC → Metadata Options → Metadata Provider. Select MusicBrainz, check Contact email or website, and clear Work offline for an online lookup. Save with OK, then try Get CD Information again.
If MusicBrainz is unavailable, try Retry later or enter the album information manually.
Proposed metadata did not replace my edits
Section titled “Proposed metadata did not replace my edits”Replacements for existing album information start unchecked under Changes to apply. Select the replacements you want, or click Use all proposed values, then Apply.
The FLAC file has no cover
Section titled “The FLAC file has no cover”Check both the album’s cover selection and the output preset:
- In the metadata dialog, preview the image, check Use this image as the front cover, and click Apply.
- Under OAC → Compression Options → Output Presets, enable Embed cover artwork for the preset you will use.
- Start another extraction with that preset.
The destination already exists
Section titled “The destination already exists”OpenAudioCopy creates a new album folder for each extraction. Choose another destination or change the album-folder template under OAC → OAC Options → Filename.
For other filename errors, check that every placeholder is supported, the folder template is relative to your chosen destination, and the track template gives each file a different name. See Files and folders.
Compressed extraction has no usable preset
Section titled “Compressed extraction has no usable preset”Open OAC → Compression Options → Output Presets, add or select a FLAC preset, and check Use this output preset. Click OK, then try Copy Selected Tracks → Compressed again.
If the preset was imported from EAC, check its format. For an MP3 preset, create and enable a FLAC preset before trying again.
FLAC encoding failed
Section titled “FLAC encoding failed”Open Tools → Compression Queue Control Center and read the failed task’s error message.
- For a space or access error, check free disk space and permission to write to the destination.
- For an encoder error, click Use bundled in the preset or select your FLAC executable.
- For a file-check error, keep the full message for troubleshooting.
After fixing the cause, select the task and click Retry. Finish before closing OpenAudioCopy. See Monitor or retry encoding for queue controls.
